Interesting how a new haircut can make or break your day... Lucky for me, mine is somewhere in between. *grin*

Tengah layan lagu ini dan juga ini sambil menyiapkan assignment yang due, errr... esok. La la la.

Juga tengah melayan Le Petit Pwince Nuaym yang dari tadi sedang craving for attention. Alahai, Ibu nak work-lah, Sayang...

How to say 'No' to this face??? *melts*

Sedetik Lebih

Truthfully, I do not know why I am putting up a post today (i.e. after such a looooooong hiatus).

Mungkin sebab today is a special day.

May Allah SWT, out of His Mercy, bestow upon us His Blessings, guide us and keep us on the Straight Path, improve our affairs and purify us for the Hereafter so that we may enter into the highest levels of Jannah. May we continue to find ways to seek His Pleasure in whatever we do. Ameen.

Adakah meng-'update blog more often' salah satu resolusi bagi tahun 1433H ini? Hmmm... we'll see. Takmo make empty promises.

His 7th Year

Aidiin turned SEVEN on August 14th, i.e. 10 days ago. Time flies, eh? Teringat zaman dia baru mula belajar berjalan dulu. *sniff*

Aaaanyways... it's recap time! :)

1. Aidiin aka Abang started Tahun 1 at SKBeeJay in January.

2. He was chosen to become the Imam during the school's Bestari Solat Camp. Sejuk perut Ibu mengandungkan (walaupun terpaksa melalui labor selama 30 jam! *trauma*).

My mistake was not saving the pictures that were uploaded to the school website previously. Siapa suruh take things for granted and procrastinate and procrastinate, kan? Siapa suruh malas nak update blog, kan? kan? Now that particular link no longer existed and I have no access to the pictures. *cries*

Luckily (aha!) I remembered to put up a small entry in MukaBuku on May 4, 2011. And here is a snippet of it. Better this than nothing at all, eh?

3. He had an accident at the school. Oh, sungguh very the horror, because the cut was sooo close to his eye!! Menurut sumber yang tidak dapat disahkan ceritanya, he had tripped at the longkang, fallen down, and had hit his head on the pasu bunga at the corridor.

 Berdebar-debar di clinic

His school shirt and singlet

Now he has a scar on his left eyebrow and a scar near his right eyebrow. Talk about being accident-prone. *sigh*

4. He had graduated from the Muqaddam and has started reading the Quran. I still remember the days when I was worried about his progress reading in Jawi because he appeared to have forgotten the Jawi alphabets he had learned during Taska!! Merangkak-rangkak dia nak mengeja dan membaca. I remember thinking back then, OMG habissslaaaa... dahlah semua subjects KAFA will be in Jawi! But Alhamdulillah, he has made so much progress ever since. *urut dada tanda lega*

Hadiah untuk Abang

Minus the unfortunate accident, I guess 2011 is a good year for him so far. Great Job, Abang!!!  *two thumbs up*

Happy 7th Birthday!!! Go make us proud of you summore, ya? :)

This n That

Before I started typing out this entry, I peeked at the 'Edit Posts' tab of the Dashboard and saw that I had drafted a few entries that have yet to see the light of day. There were also entries from 2010. Sheesh.

I was supposed to have made time to proofread those drafts and have them scheduled for posting. Didn't happen. And the longer I procrastinated from updating and/or proofreading, the more lazy overwhelmed and discouraged I became and eventually I got infected by blogger's block, if such condition exists. :P

As a result, ze beloved blog got abandoned. *sigh* It's not like I was active in the other social network pon. So, memang takde excuse lain yang valid, except tiada masa yang sesuwai. Hmmmm.

T'was a busy, busy time for me this past week (very true story ni, y'all), helping Sofea with her school projects which were all due at about the same time. Fortunately her projects require some amount of crafting, i.e. an area that I am passionate about (yayy!) and secara tak langsung it gave me the opportunity to take breaks (somewhat) from my daily routine. It was also a way to channel some of my err... creative energy into something productive.

There were scrapbook projects for Music (about folk songs of Malaysia) and Kajian Tempatan (about areas/rooms in a house). There was also a plasticine modelling project of a 'tempat letak pensel' for Kemahiran Hidup.

This was time-consuming but fun. Dah berkurun tak main dengan plasticine... hee hee hee

There was also another project for koku, on pertukangan I think, which I got famyBoy to help with. Takkan Ibu sorang je yang kena 'intervene' dalam hal-hal sekolah ni... bila ada peluang, Ayah pun perlulah prihatin juga, no? ;)

I also got myself busy designing personalized chocolate wrappers for Sofea's 10th birthday. Due to limited funds, we decided to forgo a birthday party, or ordering of cuppies and/or cakes/cookies of sorts and resorted to me doing everything DIY, from designing the wrappers to wrapping the purchased candy bars for the birthday girl to distribute to her classmates yesterday. I do hope she is satisfied with the end product. Last I checked, dia nampak happy je. :) Alhamdulillah.

Another reason to get panicky and stressed: KAFA midterm exams, May 13 - May 20. SK midterm exams, May 20 - May 27. This year, not only ada Sofea, ada Aidiin pulak to worry about. Very 'challenging' to get him to study... May Allah make it easy for both Ibu and children.

Mothers' Day... came and went. No celebration of sort, not even the usual makan-makan with the family. For one, my sister was still unwell and tired after being discharged from SJayEmCee. She was admitted because of urine infection and complaints of tummy aches and was hospitalized for 4 days. My mom was busy taking care of her. My MIL had an outstation trip that day. My SIL pun agak busy juga rasanya. She often has to work on weekends.

Me, to be frank, was not in a celebrative mood. Is it due to age? Maybe. But partly juga, due to having very limited funds to spare at the mo, maka nak 'enjoy' pun kena beringat-ingat, pikir dua tiga empat kali even.

I felt content with the bigger kids wishing me Happy Mothers Day and giving me hugs and kisses on the cheek. Cuddling Le Petit Pwince Nuaym and smothering him with kisses (sampai dia naik rimas!) was sufficient to make me realize how blessed and fortunate I am that Allah SWT has given me the opportunity to become a mother. May He bestow upon me guidance and grant me banyak-banyak patience to nurture and raise my children in the way that is most pleasing to Him.

Alamak! I have yet to figure out what to DIY as gifts for Teachers' Day... oh no!!

Sweet Sofea Turns 10

can't believe my first-born is already 10 years old. I think it is mainly because I am still carrying my post-pregnancy weight from that 10 years ago up till today. And then add to that, post-pregnancy weight from two more pregnancies afterwards. Whoa, so many, many, many kilos!!! *cries*

Dearest Kakak,

I know I still have a couple more years to figure out how to handle your teenage(r) years. But as an Ibu, I have started to worry about you already. I'm sorry, Kakak, I just cannot help it. It's a compulsion. But you know what? All mothers are like that. Tak caya? Ask one of your BFFs.

As you begin your (new) life as a Tahap Dua student, you are getting more involved with activities that are beyond the confines of home. I worry about influences that may be exerted upon you -- from your friends, your teachers, the media, new people you meet, places you visit, things you see and hear. I can  only make du'a that these influences will lead you in a positive way in terms of your faith, values, perspectives and thinking.

I understand that you are going through a different phase in life, transitioning to become a "tweenager". Being "in between" is not easy, kan? Remember how leceh it was for us to find you nice shoes? Your feet are too big for kids'/girls' sizes but too small for young adults.

I noticed that you are very attached to the house phone nowadays. Bergayut-ing with your friends? I hope you girls are discussing about school assignments and projects. Okay, okay, I know. You need your space and privacy. I can see that from the sign at the entrance of your bedroom.

Tell you what... let's work together.

I'll try to learn things from your point of view if you promise to listen to my opinions and try to live your life according to the values that your Ayah and I have taught you. You should know by now that we love you very much and only want what's best for you.

I will try to let you be independent while teaching you skills to take care of yourself in the real world. I will continuously pray for Allah's SWT guidance to help me raise and nurture you to become a righteous and successful Muslimah, both in this world and the next.

Semoga Kakak akan sentiasa menjadi anak yang solehah untuk Ibu & Ayah and a kind, loving, fun, understanding and an exemplary sibling to Aidiin and Nuaym.

Lastly, please ingat pesanan Ibu ni... Jangan tinggal solat and always depend on the Quran and the Sunnah as your guide. Remember that Allah SWT is ALWAYS watching you in whatever you do.

Lots of Love,
- Ibu.

I Was Caught Off Guard

Ibu, do you think I look handsome today?

Do you think I look handsome today? *sambil meng-adjust collar baju sekolah dan membetulkan rambut*

Of course you do... Tapi, Abang hari-hari pun nampak handsome apa...

*senyum simpul tersipu-sipu*

Adusss... vain jugak anak terunaku ini. Hmmmm.

A year has passed...

Lots of love, hugs, kisses, tickles and cuddles from Ibu, Ayah, Kakak & Abang.

May Allah shower you with His bounties, bestow upon you His blessings and protect you from harm. May you grow up to be a righteous and successful Muslim, both in this world and the next. Ameen.

Panic Tak Tentu Pasal

This morning, after he got off the bus, I saw Aidiin 'limp' his way across the road and into our house gate. Normally, once the bus driver drives away, he would cross the road and run excitedly to the house.

So, saya berasa teramat alarmed bila melihatkan dia jalan slow-slow macam tu, macam tengah control sakit. In fact he looked like he was almost waddling, macam anak itik Tok Wi yang seekor tu. Tak pun berjalan ala-ala Si Frankenstein. Melangkah setapak demi setapak demi setapak.

Abang?? Why are you walking like that?!! Did you fall and hurt yourself???!!

I expected him to break into tears and wail in pain.

Taaakk... Ni... *points to feet* Abang ter-pakai kasut sekolah Kakak. *smiles sheepishly* Tadi Abang tak perasanlaa Ibu...

Lerrr... kartun sungguh budak ni. And the moral of the story is... Sometimes, you should NOT try to put yourself in other people's shoes (especially when that other person's shoes are 4 sizes bigger).

Year 1 Student in 2011

Pejam celik pejam celik it's been 2 weeks since Aidiin's first day in Year 1@SKBeeJay. Tapi kalau nak kira Hari Orientasi, dah 17 days altogether.

Kejap je eh masa berlalu? Hmmm... But of course, seperti biasa Ibu is delinquent in her blog updates, maka hari ni baru nak share cerita. hee hee hee.

Alhamdulillah, he seems to enjoy his new academic life, although he complained about being penaaaaaat-lah upon returning home on the first day. Oh and he has voiced some err... 'concerns' that this year might be tough for him coz nanti sure dia ada banyak homework. HAHAHA. Sungguh amused Ibu mendengarnya, especially since so far I have not seen any homework being assigned to him by his teachers, and the buku-buku tulis yang dia bawak to school masih belum ada isi di dalamnya. :P

Some things I observed:
- He adjusted and adapted well to his new environment. Tak nampak panic or nervous pun. He even went to the toilet on his own on Orientation Day. Alhamdulillah... The truth is I was more nervous than him.

- He is err... quite small for his age. Petite gitu. I had to buy the smallest sized baju melayu, kemeja and pants for him. Pants dah dihantar alter, tapi masih kena lipat sekali bila pakai. Harapannya, he will grow taller and bigger by mid year.
Rasanya ramai budak-budak lain yang jauh lebih besar dari dia, girls included. Apa mak diorang bagi makan eh? Takpe Abang, biarlah Abang jadi macam formula pekat Downy tu, kecil-kecil cili padiiii! :)

- According to his class teacher (based on her observation after the 1st week of school) he has good PR with the teachers (Amboi, amboi!) and he is very friendly, cheerful and helpful, both to teachers and classmates alike. Jangan sampai kerja sendiri tak siap ya Abang, sebab sibuk dok menolong sana-sini. I am thankful, though, that I am blessed with an unselfish child.

- He appears to be more stingy careful with his belongings, namely his stationeries, dah 2 minggu masih takde benda hilang lagi, unlike his sister when she first started school.

- He is more 'cekap' than his sister was in terms of survival. On the 2nd day of school, despite already bringing nuggets as bekal, he had requested for pocket money. What for? I asked. His reply was, "Kot-kot Aidiin nak beli jelly ke, buah ke, air ke..." Sofea started asking for pocket money only after her 7th month of school in Year 1.

- On his 2nd and 3rd day of school, he has 'mastered' the skill to use the public phone, and he has made 2 calls to his Nenek, both around 3:15pm, i.e. during recess. His Nenek had called me up on the morning of the 4th day... "Pesan kat Aidiin tu, jangan asyik dok main telefon, Mama risau nanti dia tak sempat nak makan."

- He claimed that his right arm is now extra lenguh due to too much coloring. *This*, somehow, I'd already expected to hear.

Good Luck to you for the rest of your academic year, Abang! Ni baru nak masuk minggu ke-3! :D
